Marshall JCM 900
Looking for leads on a cheap JCM 900 50 WATT head. Yeah I know they have problems with this and that and all you techy fuckers hate them but I love the fuck out of them. Best punk rock rhythm guitar amp ever made.
if you see anything let me know. I'll drive as far as atlanta , KY

Re: Marshall JCM 900
they aren't that bad. i hear some earlier models are better than the later ones. GC had a 100w one for 700 for a while. put a WTB post on craigslist. otherwise, come to my house and i'll show you what a real amp sounds like!

Did you get rid of the 5150?? By saying you know what a real amp sounds like, you must've gotten a Boogie HA
I think JCM 900's are a bit trebbly.....anyhoo

I know...but not when you back off the treble. I love 800's and 900's but only 50 watt heads. I don't play any rooms that need 100 watts.

I love trebly. Trebly leaves room for the bass to do its job.Matt Benson wrote:What's wrong with trebly?

Re: Marshall JCM 900
I had a JCM900 for 2 days back in like 02. It was a 100W head, but it was switchable to 50W I just couldn't get the sound out of it that I wanted..I DO however recognize that people love them, and they are great amps. I do like the 800's, they have JUST A TAD bit more low end in them.
I have a JCM800 straight cab that I play my 2 channel Dual Rectifier through, and it was chosen after many, many, MANY other cabs were tried...including the matching Boogie cab, and an old orange
but really....who cares?

Re: Marshall JCM 900
Hell..I played through a valvestate marshall the other day and it sounded fucking great. Marshall is the only amp I will buy. It has to be a 50watt head. Must be attached to a real marshall cab. I like the 80's cabs because they have a more throaty sound that is great for just about any style of distorted rhythm guitar. I don't care if it's good for leads because I don't play them do to my suckage..lol. I really like the 900's. The 800's will do but then I will have to go out and buy some type of pedal and I hate pedals. They always seem to sound different from room to room and use to use.vacantjosh wrote:I had a JCM900 for 2 days back in like 02. I hate pedals because I get fucked up at shows and 1 of 3 things happens.
1) I'm so wasted by the time I jump up on stage and hook my shit up in the dark...that I hook one in backwards-(incidentally you can get this killer feedback effect if you hook up a wah pedal backwards)
2) I'm on the other side of the stage when it's time to step on one....
3) I step on the wrong fucking one because again....I'd a junkie...and when I am expecting some rad delay, I end up with a gnarly flanger or someshit

I used to be the same way man... Don't drink before I play anymore though. I crack the first beer when I crack the first chord.vacantjosh wrote:CHRIS wrote:Hell..I played through a valvestate marshall the other day and it sounded fucking great. I've gotten compliments from more than one member of this forum on my AVT... I've had it for over 7 years now and it's still chugging along...
And Chris, you're a better guitarist than probably anybody else on here with the obvious exceptions of Jeano and Geoff-about-15-years-ago so just play the damned leads already.

Yeah they are looking and sounding better and better to me. Plus the tone you get for the price is unbeatable.

What model are you using ? All I can find used are the 150 models. Thats just to much fucking power if you ask me. I seriously doubt I could get any type of tone out of 150 watts while at playing volume.Matt Benson wrote:I've gotten compliments from more than one member of this forum on my AVT... I always SAY I am not going to drink before I play...then I show up at the venue...and I am fucking thirsty. Then I swallow a handful of pills and all hell breaks loose.
Fuckin worst ever was when we were doing an all day festival and had no idea when we played...so we showed up 6 hours early. There was noo shade or tents backstage, so it turned into 6 hours of drinking in the hot sun before we played. Then I get on stage...look at the crowd and think to myself "I have no business being in front of all these people" By the third song I had busted my mouth on my mic so bad, that my lip was fat and bloody like Danny McBride's in Pineapple Express. "It's a cold sore....I never got one before...so I started to cry"
I have since slowed down a LITTLE before I play. Lately I've been just doing acoustic gigs though, and the beer at the bar I play at is free....and cougars like to buy me jager bombs....so by the end of a 3 hour set....I'll be FUCKING HAMMERED
what were we talking about?? Amps....yeah..I like my boogie
lol

I'm the slightly slimmer jack black I guess, or I may be Kyle Gas with those tasty licks....
And by East Nashville, I obviously meant West Nashville.
