Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
Uncle Skunkle could be in, we almost got blown away up here, yesterday, my cousin lost part of his house. Ill talk to the guys, but I would be up for playing, just depends on the date, etc.
Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
My wife and I lost our pretty much everything in our back yard and it flooded the house. It doesn't help I live right on 7 Mile Creek... which I think killedd two people the past two days...
My motorcycle was in the shed and I had to let it go.... it is full of creek muck now and my shed is fucked. Nothing like a year old Harley looking like it is 20 years old. I really hope I can salvage it. .... I was able to save the cars and the wife and dogs before the creek over-took everything. Then, after we flee the flooded house, all the exits to my neighborhood are blocked by the creek and we are trapped in it. Luckily my neighbors girlfriend lives up in the high part of our neighborhood and they put us up for the night.... 4 dogs and all. Super cool!!
We're in the process of cleaning up the house now. Funny when you can just bring in the garden hose and start cleaning with it.....
So yeah... if you set a date, let me know and I'll see if the Beat Officers can play it. I would love to help out.

Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
Count RDW in. We had 4 inches of water in the basement that we fought all day. And I know that Kiersten from Foobar had 4 feet of water in hers.
Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
Let's let the floods recede and then we can get it going. I have found someone else who is trying to put together a huge show. I have my emails in with her and let's see what happens.

There is no cover for this event, but we will taking donations, and 100% of all funds donated will be given to Hands on Nashville and to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

The Cruds will be down for future relief shows.. I suspect we'll need a bunch of them..
Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?

Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
Nice.. You can't even do a benefit show without someone diggin at you..
Everyone in Franklin is hardly filthy rich. There are slummy/hood sections of Franklin just like anywhere else.
The Harpeth rose 20 feet over some of the older parts of the city down by The Pond (and other parts of Franklin) and did some serious damage just like it did elsewhere.

And this is a benefit for the Red Cross which will help more than just Franklin. No offense Sar but don't be so quick to point fingers and prejudge what is going on based on where its being held. I used to live in Franklin and I'm a poor ass workin class skinhead.
Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
wasn't trying to offend. but when we were stuck in franklin during the flood.. i just couldn't pity the people evacuating riverside mansions to come to our hotel... i wasn't aware there was anything else there. i just tend to sympathize more with people who can't afford fancy shelter (ala embassy suites during a fiasco). if id seen the other parts of the town you mention, then i would have understood.

Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
No big deal. I can see how some people would think that Franklin is nothing but rich people. But the funny thing is that back in the day probably 40-50% of the Nashville scene were from Franklin.
Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
that's a fucking absurd assumption. that's like saying everyone from east nashville is a hipster douchebag.

Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
Or that everyone in Ashland City is a crackhead or alcoholic collecting undeserved disability benefits? Obviously these aren't strictly true; however let's be realistic and accept that stereotypes grow from experience. I've seen the run-down parts of Franklin and I know they're there. I've shopped at the Goodwill across from The Pond. I also know that a large number of people making higher salaries in and around Nashville live in Mt. Juliet or Franklin. It's no secret that people with money flee a metropolitan area and settle in a nearby area; Franklin just happens to be one of the places that fills this role for Nashville. Most of the doctors we see are in Franklin or Brentwood, despite the one-hour drive. And no, we didn't pick them because they were in Franklin; we picked them based on word-of-mouth of patients or other people in the medical field of our acquaintance. Why do y'all think all the best doctors would be clustered in a relatively small geographic area like that? Do we have to get into a political discussion to remind ourselves what the vast majority of medical practitioners are after?
Note that I'm not knocking this or any other flood relief show; I just can't resist an opportunity to talk about the practice of stereotyping.

Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
I love in Franklin and my butler and all my maids got dirty cars in the flood. Since they all drive Mercedes I have to make sure the paint jobs don't get scratched when they get washed, thus the need for a benefit show.
I sure hope the door money covers our guarantee and rider - which is very costly - don't live in Franklin without a reason..

it's not really an assumption to say all the people i (keyword)SAW were filthy rich... when coach luggage and well groomed puppies are usually a good sign..

Jeano: not sure if your comments were aimed at me or Sar. In any event, I was aware that you live in Franklin, and I never had an impression of you as rich. I do, however, have the impression that you have your shit together more or less to a level that would be reasonable to expect of someone your age, which is to say that even if you're not "rich," you're not really hurting either regardless of whether you do or don't employ servants. That said, the rarity of an event like this flood obviously caught most middle Tennesseans by surprise regardless of what their economic standing may have been prior to the catastrophe. Some are certainly relatively fucked now due to the fact that FEMA aims to shelter, but not strictly to indemnify. Maybe we should say Franklin's Cool Springs area in particular is home to a disproportionate number of the larger Nashville area's upper middle class, and that this upper middle class earns an income that, by the standards of many, qualifies them to be called "rich" even if they aren't strictly wealthy. Would that make everybody happier?
Re: FLOOD RELIEF SHOW?
Who cares? Let's just rock. There are people in need in Franklin and this show will help them, and that's good enough for me. Anyone who cares and wants to see some great bands at the same time, come on out. Unfortunately Spookhand won't be able to play that night, but RDW and the Cruds will.
See you at the Pond!
