Re: Check out The Jaggers
I can appreciate what you guys are tryin to do, but if I wanna hear Johnny Thunders, I'll put in a CD.
Re: Check out The Jaggers
I said I could appreciate what they were doing. Started off nice. But I'm just not that impressed with a complete rip off band. Sorry if I'm a little too honest in my opinion.
Re: Check out The Jaggers
I don't really get the Thunders reference. I'm assuming you haven't listened to much of Thunders stuff, considering my shit doesn't sound anything like Thunders. Nor doesn't even feel like Thunders. Thats like saying the Ramones sound like Black Flag. Even the Heartbreakers era stuff, which would be his most aggressive music, is bubble-gum at best. If you're gonna call it a rip off, then I'd go with the Dead Boys, or Electric Chairs. Regardless, thanks for the input.
By the way, nice to be here. Good to meet other folks into punk rock.

Re: Check out The Jaggers
I think its cool that there are people willing to post on here that have their shit together enough to have finished songs. It's not my thing per say but like i said it's cool that you came up with a whole song.
Re: Check out The Jaggers
I can definitely hear some Dead Boys influence. Thunders is just what hit me first. Maybe even a little more New York Dolls. I guess I'm just tired of everything sounding rehashed. I've heard a ton of bands that sound exactly the same. And like I said, I can appreciate what you are doing, and its done well, but it even sounds to me like it was recorded to get the same sound that those old bands had when they were originally recorded. I guess I'm just looking for more new stuff that grabs me and most of it doesn't.Jason wrote:I don't really get the Thunders reference. Anyways, welcome to the board, good luck with the project, and hope to see it live so I can maybe better appreciate it.

Oh yes, there's definitely some Heartbreakers going on here. And yes, I've listened to ALOT of JT over the years. Seen him live, own the records and so on. The singer has a Stiv thing going on - so I get the DB call.
Of course sounding like The Heartbreakers is not a bad thing in my book - and now you've got folks listening to the tunes so it's all good.
Re: Check out The Jaggers
You listened to ALOT of JT over the years ? Is that a sly way of making people think Johnny Thunders. but yet saying that you are a HUGE Justin Timberlake fan ?

Actually I'm just starting to get into Justin Timberlake. That dude rocks on guitar.
Re: Check out The Jaggers
Thanks for the replies everyone. I must confess that this isn't a band, its just a side thing I did by myself a few years ago, on an old 8 track machine that I had. It was fun, and sometimes fun to listen to, but like the guy before said, its nothing new.
Speaking of the Heartbreakers, I too am a big fan. Walter Lure was a big influence on me, and I always felt that he was much more of the "real deal" than Thunders. Lure wrote all the best songs (i.e. Get off the phone, all by myself, etc.) while JT was busy shooting dope and writing crap like "Baby Talk" and stealing songs from Dee Dee Ramone.
Regarding the other JT, you guys are ghey.
