Psychobilly! Rockabilly! Mutant Hillbilly!
What this place needs is a psychobilly thread, because that's what I really like to eat. So the Meteors is what it should be started off with. This song is off of their newest record ... and once again they prove they still got it. They are one of my all time favorite top three bands. If you like psychobilly than you have to love the Meteors ... if you don't ... well, then you don't like psychobilly. That's the bottom line. For me, they're a quintessential band like the Ramones or Motorhead or the Cramps ... it's just good rock and fuckin' roll first and foremost.

The first time I ever heard of Deadbolt was when I found a promotional copy of their first album for sale at Lucy's. I bought it just because of the cover ... been hooked ever since. That was maybe '93 or '94 ... not sure ... alot of brain cells have died since then.

The Krewmen are another favorite of mine. I think they have a unique sound that is their own. One of the few psychobilly bands that have used acoustic guitars in some of their songs. They're pretty amazing.

The Whiskey Daredevils are one of Ohio's finest bands. This is one fine Misfits cover.

Batmobile is another one of the bands that came out of the 80's with the neo-rockabilly resurgence.

Bobby Joe Thorazine is another one of our very own homegrown mutants. How can you not love this song?

Deadbolt is going to be touring with the Reverend Horton Heat next year ... so they will receive more exposure from that. I love the Rev, but personally I think Deadbolt ought to be the headliner. The Rev puts on a helluva good live show and with Deadbolt it ought to be kick ass ... unfortunately no dates announced even come remotely close to us ... Dallas being the closest. Maybe if we're lucky they'll add an Atlanta date ... would be cool.

Southern Culture On The Skids: another band that can maintain a unique style that seems rather simple, yet every record they put out somehow sounds as fresh as when they first started. They also do some very cool instrumentals. Wish they would come back through Nashville, they haven't stopped by for awhile. They used to visit quite frequently.
