Surf's up? Empty Surf's up?

Post  Ethan514 Wed Dec 09, 2009 4:06 am

I don't actually live in Nashville, I'm from western kentucky, about 2 hours away. Are there any surf bands in nashville? Or even anything that goes well with surf? I gotta surf/garage/punk band thats fixin' to be hittin' it up in nashville and I was wonderin if there are is anything like that there? Also do different crowds frequent different venues? For instance if I played at The Muse one friday and the Exit/In the next would I be playing for a different crowd of folks? Any replies appreciated.

Unless you know something or someone I don't, you probably won't be playing at the Exit/In regardless, but I could be wrong. Daikaiju are the kings of surf around here, though they don't play here much.

Well I don't know a thing about the Exit/In, I just said it because I know it's one of the more prominent venues in town. You tell me, what's the best place for new bands to play in town? I mean even past the regular venues, I'll play houses or warehouses or whatever, as long as a tiny bit of gas money can be made, and I'm really not even too particular about that.

bruce at The End does new bands mid-week...but he's usually booked a couple of months ahead.

i thought daikaiju were from birmingham? either way, no matter....they rule.

Brain Conflict, their bass player, was living here at one point, so they were kind of a band of 2 homes... not sure whether he still lives in town or not.

Ethan, I knew it wouldn't be long till your bitch ass would be on this board too. Ethan is in both of the bands I am in. This is a good question. I would Love Uncle Skunkle to play a show with Hillbilly Casino, that maybe wishful thinking, but shit, it would be awesome. Is the Muse hard to get booked in? and any suggestions on where to do our booking would be helpful.

The Muse isn't hard at all, I have already kinda talked to Logan Cheek (Owner or Booker idk which) and it's pretty much you give him a date that isn't already reserved and it's on from what I understand.

Edit- I checked out Daikaiju, motherfuckin' bad ass. Definitely wanna hook up a show with them. Do you guys think surf and rockabilly go pretty good together? I like to think they would but i don't know. I would love to play with Hillbilly Casino sometime. I'm pretty much just up for any show with any band haha. Oh, shameless friend promotion here, anyone that hasn't checked out The Humms needs to. www.myspace.com/thehumms

We need to talk to the Lavamen, Ethan. They would fit really well with Uncle Skunkle.

From the looks of things I would assume they are no longer together.
