Re: D.R.I @ The Muse - March 27th
what a great show! they sounded just like they used to. they played all my favorites. had a blast hanging out with everyone. i think we gave em a good impression of our town.
Re: D.R.I @ The Muse - March 27th
yeah that show was fucking SICK .. Im still pissed we didnt get to play
I went to get a beer and couldnt even get back to the side of the stage
we definitely showed that Nashville can bring out Thrash Punk kids and Metal heads together ..
The first band, that appeared out of nowhere, was suprisingly good, DM did a great job (and sold out their CDs we spent the last few weeks finishing), GW kicked ass (Ive only seen them once and the sound was WAY better this time) and Noisecult got a great response from the crowd and played a hell of a show as well ..
Only negatives: Ran out of PBR??? (what the fuck?), a band showed up and got on the show and there was a sound issue at the beggining of the show that had feedback killing my ears
but other than that .. great times!

Yep...it was a great show. It was way better than I thought it would be! The crowd was fucking wild and that always make a show fun. I hate I had to miss the Cruds and Spookhand at the Basement..but that's how it goes sometimes. And, being such a video dork, of course I shot some video of D.R.I. and put it on my youtube page.

Re: D.R.I @ The Muse - March 27th
yep this show did kick ass. Had a great time playing it and watching it, and can't believe the huge turnout for this show. Probably the biggest one I have seen at the Muse. Good mix of some metalheads and punks having a good time in the pit. Not sure how many people fit in the Muse main room but you could hardly move in there.
I got my ass up next to leon at the sound board so I could hear it and watch without getting slammed into..I am gettin' to old... D.R.I sounded really good in there. I know it is pretty damn hard to hear on stage but out front the sound was pretty good. And those old dudes can still thrash it out....got to hear all the songs I was hoping to hear except "Think For Yourself"..so maybe next time they come back.....
Rob From DRI ended up using our drums and Spike grabbed gorilla warfare's Peavy rig. So thanks to those dudes for doing that and helping out.
Funny in talking to Rob, he is from south florida and was in the metal / punk scene the same time Jeano (Cruds) and I were in it the late 80s. talked about all the same shows we saw, all the local bands and places we hung out at. Small world. Cool dude. Spike was really fucking great the whole night as well, as was Harold the bass player. Kurt was up front doing merch and I didn't really talk to him much. seemed cool enough. Always nice when the touring band isn't full of assholes and good to work with.
Funny part for us was Harold thanking the opening bands and then talking about each one. Started with us (Noisecult) and said some good shit about our music etc, but then said I like the name, then said "hey how about blue oyster Noisecult" and started to sing don't fear the reaper... all in all a good night for everyone. all the opening bands played good sets and the crowd got into everybody's show so what more could you ask for.
DRI said they would like to come back next year. Hope they do.
