Nash Bash!
Well, it looks like the year's Nash Bash is gonna be a hoot. Date is gonna be June 26th and I've confirmed Hub City Stompers, Unit Six, Firm Foundation Riddim Squad(New band from Omar of the Soul Enforcers) and possibly Flatfoot 56. More bands to be announced. Beer, bands and BBQ. Gonna be a good ol' time.

We'll work out all the grill details as it gets closer to the date. I do know that I'm putting as much back as possible to cover food this year.

Re: Nash Bash!
I talked to Tobin last night and Flatfoot is gonna be in Canada. So they can't be there. But I might have some other surprises.

If there's one thing I know about Flatfoot, is that they don't force their views on anyone and they have never pushed their beliefs at a show here. I've known the guys for 4 or 5 years now and that's not their goal. They aren't a christian band. They're a punk band that just happens to have christian members.

couldn't tell, because at their oklahoma shows they were trying to get group prayer going. religion and music just don't mix for me.

I always looked at music as a type of religion. I pray to the rock gods every daySar wrote:Mike_Sims wrote:If there's one thing I know about Flatfoot, is that they don't force their views on anyone and they have never pushed their beliefs at a show here. Re: Nash Bash!
That's wierd. They've never done that here or in any other city I've seen them in. And I know that Flicker records here in Nashville dropped them from the label because they wanted to do a more secular album for their second recording.Sar wrote:Mike_Sims wrote:If there's one thing I know about Flatfoot, is that they don't force their views on anyone and they have never pushed their beliefs at a show here. Re: Nash Bash!
Nash Bash is sounding great! Last Year was a huge blast! I've really been wanting to see Hub City Stompers again. Can't wait...
I've never heard Flatfoot preach and definitly never heard them try to lead a prayer. They have a positive message behind their music, and if they preach about anything, it's about being a good person and a positive example to society. They've never really preached about God at any shows I've been at.
I don't care for bands that preach about religion, whether it be for or against God. I can make my own decisions, and it's usually a subject I steer clear of. I think christian and athieist bands can be equally annoying.

Re: Nash Bash!
you said it brother. I AM a christian but I hate preaching at shows on one side or the other. I don't really get into christian bands. fist's anti christian banter gets annoying as well, but i just roll my eyes because it's really not that big a deal.
religion has a place in music (gospel, hymns). there is a christian band called headnoise that 90% of the people on this very sight would love until they found out they were christians*. but if a christian band wants to preach, they know the shows to preach to, i.e. christian gatherings, church shows, etc. I hate to say it, but a christian band preaching for God will lose alot more fans at a normal venue than someone preaching non or anti christian views.
*invest that money, run that race
greed carves deep lines in your face
you lust for more, you love the taste
you can't serve God and money, YOU CAN'T SERVE GOD AND MONEY!
(sample headnoise lyrics)
Please don't take this as an attack on you Sar, this is just my opinion. I do appreciate your support of the boards and I look foward to hearing your opinion again.

Re: Nash Bash!
I've got to agree with the rest, I've never heard Flatfoot preach at a show... and to be honest the three times I've have seen them have been three of the sickest shows I've been to in Nashville. They always manage to get that good family feeling going in the crowd. I think Mike summed it up with "They are a punk band, that just happens to have christian members" statement.
Anyways, I hope Nash Bash has a even better turn out than last year. I know everyone in DM had a blast getting to play it was hot as hell but totally worth every drop of sweat.

Wow..it was so fucking hot last year..but that just made it all more memorable. We came prepared though..just like at punkfest the year before. Two coolers, one with food and water, and one full of beer. I drank so much beer last year, I'm surprised I remember anything.
I haven't thought about Headnoise in a while. I found one of their cds super cheap..I guess because they are a christian band. They do sound pretty good for a christian band.
