I think I was under the impression there were more ska fans on this site?

I'm excited about the show. But I have to admit that I really like old school ska better than any of it. First Wave is the shit, Second Wave/Two Tone is great as well but Third Wave bands are real hit and miss for me. Some of them I really don't see how they can call themselves ska.

I prefer 1st wave as well.

Damn I thought it was all marley and Tosh. Ska is really complicated.

Marley and Tosh aren't even Ska. They're Reggae. Ska came before Reggae.

I was drunk and meant to say "reggae". Really? I did not know ska came first. Hmm..learn something new everyday.

Reggae stemmed from Jamaican ska, from what I've gathered it's because Jamaica is hot as balls and people wanted to dance, so they slowed it down and popularized reggae and rocksteady... more or less so they wouldn't wear out dancing to ska in the heat.

One thing that pisses me off is when people say "you play ska? That was a 90's thing." No asshole. It's NOT. Yes I know, there were buttloads of generic shitty regurgitated ska band that came out then. Not my fault that it was the decade people paid a little more attention to the genre. Joe Schmoe has never heard of the it, and it doesn't bother me. And then there's the stigma of being in a female fronted band. Fuck the politics, I just want to play some good songs.

I played in a female fronted band and loved it. So stick to your guns darlin.

Always. Though some shows I wish I could just play guitar and not say shit. Those times are few and far between, I've been a loud mouth for awhile and rather enjoy it.
It's the Gwen Stafani references that make me want to keep an ice pick handy.

It could be worse. She does have a great voice.
